The Dekka Story

In the late 1980's to mid 1990's a community flourished in a suburb of Portland, Oregon informally called "The Ranch" because of the ranch styled house there. This was not an intentional community or commune, but an open house shared by incidental visitors, professionals, travelers, students, artists and others seeking an extended break from conventional living or re-defining oneself in it. The atmosphere fostered social networking, exploring new ideas and evolving old ones in addressing issues of practical living and the mundane. Free thinking, informal think tanks became a nurturing resource for some to ponder new paths in professional careers, and for others to invent and innovate.

After a few false starts, including prototyping modular geodesic domes, and losing a (now proven) marketable product innovation to a local, professional partnership of patent attorneys, a few of us decided we needed to establish a more professional platform to launch projects and manage collective resources.

Dekka Corp was founded in 1995 with $100 to formalize some of the more marketable and sustainable solutions for business and communities. Early initiatives included:

• designing sustainable "Danish farmhouse" styled thatched-roof multifamily dwellings
• designing radiant heating and potable water systems powered by thermal composting piles and boosted with solar thermal
• converting a proprietary Table-Integrated Publishing System (TIPS) and integrated bills-of-materials system from Excel to a relational-database-backed platform
• using digital flip-flop circuits to accelerate digital memory access (and reduce manufacturing costs)
• exploring web-based video security system requirements
• ..and adventures in agriculture, cooking etc that are typically found in alternative living environments

1999: Dekka creates an online presence selling hosting, and ponders y2k and explores feasibility of a few dot-com start-ups near Hyderbad, India.

2000-2001: Dekka focuses on marketing hosting services, and identifies key open-source software platforms including OpenACS for software development initiatives.

2002-2006: Dekka focuses on developing accounting software that supports Ecological economics, MIS and knowledge base services, and online learning software.

2007: Dekka spearheads the ecommerce-g2 project.

2008: Dekka starts DekkaSupply.com to help those we feel can benefit most from our help and to provide a direct brick-and-mortar method to fund projects and field prove the solutions we help create. Dekka also helps start Lotus Green Data Centers open innovation project, and initiates preparation of a start-up called EORIT (enterprise optimization and remote IT).

2009: Dekka passes the Lotus Green DC project to Indigo STARS a nonprofit, public charity (with some common founders). We spend some time exploring sacred geometry in the context of architecture and art. Emphasis remains with evolving DekkaSupply.com.

2010: DekkaSupply.com continues to improve. The future is looking bright!
