This AET drainback solar water heating system is designed to maximize solar heating savings for a home occupied by 4 to 6 adults. This system converts any water heater into a solar powered water heater.
This system:
- connects to an existing water storage tank using a AET DB-15-15XC Thermo-Miser Drainback
- provides automatic freeze protection
- works well in most climates
- does not need propylene-glycol to protect from freezing temperatures
- low maintenance
- can be installed in an SRCC certified design configuration
- qualifies for many tax rebate programs
- Two aet-ae-32 solar panels
- one aet-db-15-15xc Thermo-Miser drainback module
- one Solaraide 120gallon storage tank
- 1. temperature control sensor
- 2. two AET AE-32 solar panels (4ft by 8ft)
- 3. Watts 70A anti-scalding mixing valve
- 4. Pentair SL2DW3 In-Line temperature gauge
- 5. Watts 100XL-4 T/P valve
- 6. Taco 005-sf2 circulator pumps water from the bottom of the solar storage tank through the heat-exchanger coil into the top of the solar storage tank.
- 7. Blue-White 1-10GPM flow meter
- 8. differential solar controller
- 9. 4500 watt electric heating element (optional)
- 10. Taco 009-BF5 circulator pushing reservoir water up to the solar panel
- 11. Watts 530-34 pressure relief valve for drainback reservoir loop

- 13. 120 gallon Solar Storage tank installed next to existing electric or gas water heater.
- 14. internal heat exchanger coil inside the drainback tank, surrounded by solar-heated water coming from the solar panel.
