Glossary
Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) - using underground aquifers for storing water to be used later. Some ASR technologies use the heat storage aspect of the aquifer as part of a geothermal HVAC system.
EF - Energy Factor used by GAMA in rating conventional gas and electric water heating tanks. A value of 0.9 is typical of electric water heaters, 0.6 for gas water heaters.
GAMA - Gas Appliance Manufacturers Association- The Gas Appliance Manufacturers Association merged in 2008 with the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute to become the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute. http://www.ahrinet.org/
SEF - Solar Energy Factor
Solar Energy Factor (SEF) - a performance rating of solar domestic water heating systems used by SRCC. SEF is "the energy delivered by the system divided by the electrical or gas energy put into the system. The SEF is presented as a number similar to EF with some extra parameters that represent typical test conditions for solar water heating systems.
